What is
NRHH?
NRHH, the National Residence Hall Honorary, is a national organization whose
purpose is recognizing outstanding leadership as well as developing student
leaders in the residence halls. The group is comprised of the top 1% of
student leaders living in the residence halls at each individual school.
NRHH is committed to service, scholarship, and leadership, as well as acknowledging
the hard work and leadership roles of students and staff in the residence
halls.
The UNLV Chapter of NRHH sponsors “Of The Month” awards (OTMs), which are awards designed to recognize outstanding UNLV students, staff, programs, residence hall communities, and more. The UNLV Chapter also gives out the David M. Brown OTM Nominator Award, sponsors UNLV leadership activities, and bids for regional and national awards. The UNLV Chapter would ultimately like to establish a strong Class of 15 members and create committees for programs, Of The Month awards, and recognition. Through involvement in NRHH leadership activities, members of the UNLV Chapter become outstanding leaders on campus and in the nation. We also encourage, support, and recognize fellow residents at UNLV for their outstanding leadership contributions. The UNLV Chapter of NRHH is well known throughout our region and the nation. Due to our award-winning OTM program and hard work in other areas, we have been honored with nearly twenty national awards since 1996 and have received numerous regional awards each year. Our members also contribute to various organizations including academic honoraries, the Residence Hall Association Executive Board, Campus Housing paraprofessionals, the Student Ambassador program, the Honors College, and many others. The 10th of every month | OTMs due to JocelynMata82@aol.com |
OTMs
OTMs, or "Of The Month" awards, are written every month to honor the following:
Advisor, NCC, Spotlight, Community, NRHH Chapter, Student, E-Board Member,
RA, Community Service Program, Educational Program, Social Program, Diversity
Program, and Faculty/Staff. In order to complete an OTM (which can be written
by anyone in the residence halls), you need to have all the information
about the nominee, then you need to fill out the OTM template form. The OTM
templates can be accessed by using the NRHH disks in the complex offices,
or by e-mailing one of the NRHH members, who can send you the templates to
download. The awards need to be written and e-mailed to Jocelyn Mata (JocelynMata82@aol.com) by the 10th of every month to nominate for the previous month.
For example, October OTMs are due to Jocelyn by November 10th. Here are some
tips for writing successful OTMs:
- Use the word count . . . get as close as you
can to the final number. Always remember that these are for recognition of outstanding contributions. Whether they win at the UNLV level, PACURH level, or NACURH level doesn't matter; it's simply the fact that these people know that they were nominated. |
